YBCA is a San Francisco based contemporary arts centre offering visual arts, performing arts and film and media exhibitions. After creating their identity in 2016, design and branding studio Manual continued to work with YBCA. This recently included the YBCA 100 — an annual list of creative minds that inspire their work. The one day event invited attendees to name and interrogate urgent questions facing the community to explore how art and culture can create societal change.
Manual designed a typographic '100', which acts as the centrepiece of the branding for the event. This is combined with large typographic hero statements which bounce back and forth to portray the feeling of an ongoing dialogue. The applications for the project included a series of 3 posters, event brochures and a lobby installation.
