Ben Mingo, Abraham Campillo and Aristide Benoist reunite for Waka Waka's Collection No.2

Waka Waka is the Los Angeles-based furniture studio of Japanese designer Shin Okuda. His output includes seating concepts, utilitarian objects and spatial design, all of which are tied together by simplicity in form, subtle detailing and unique interpretations of proportion.

Okuda’s Collection N.02 serves as a presentation of “functional objects”, more specifically: five beautifully-crafted chairs in earthy tones, each with a cylindrical backrest. He once again employed designer Ben Mingo, photographer Abraham Campillo of MOUTHWASH Studio and web developer Aristide Benoist to create the identity and website for the collection, following their successful collaboration on N.01.

Okuda’s philosophy of minimal design and conscious proportion served as an anchor throughout their work. The team chose Radim Pesko’s Agipo as the primary typeface, likening the characterful punch of its Bold Condensed weight to the round forms and straight lines of the baltic birch plywood chairs.
