Bureau Mirko Borsche rebrands Novembre with an expressive piece of custom lettering

Novembre is an online and biannual print magazine that explores ‘art practices, beauty and innovations’ by challenging cultural trends and producing thought-provoking imagery.┬áMunich-based studio Bureau Mirko Borsche was asked to rebrand the magazine and design its new online platform, with an aim to create a cohesive aesthetic between Novembre’s digital and physical formats.

The centrepiece of the new identity is the Novembre masthead, an expressive piece of custom lettering created in reference to the classic serif typefaces seen on traditional newspapers and lifestyle magazines. However, its accentuated, fluid flourishes make it feel fresh and not just a copy of the publications it’s paying homage to. The logo’s organic curves are contrasted and complemented by a neutral sans serif typeface that appears in a single-weight, uppercase form for the majority of its uses.
