Fred Aldous by Saul Studio

Since opening in Manchester over 130 years ago, Fred Aldous has become one of the leading arts and crafts stores in the city, selling over 25,000 different products. Leeds based design practice Saul Studio worked closely with the Aldous family to refresh the stores visual identity and communication materials.

They delved into the three centuries worth of archive material available to them and were inspired by a vintage sign that’s still present in the Manchester store. The new seal now accompanies Fred’s iconic signature, which is used dynamically across digital, print and spatial contexts.
