HelloMe’s publication for Stiftung Insel Hombroich examines the work of Danish artist Per Kirkeby
Berlin-based studio HelloMe designed a publication examining the work of Danish painter and sculptor Per Kirkeby to accompany an exhibition at the Dusseldorf-based cultural space Stiftung Insel Hombroich. Titled Per Kirkeby, Building and Painting, the book examines the relationship between architecture and nature in his work.
The Swiss-bound hardcover publication emphasises the tactility of Kirkeby’s work through embossed typography on a linen-wrapped cover. The typography mirrors the identity HelloMe created for Stiftung Insel Hombroich in 2017 by using the bespoke typeface HM Erwin Grotesk, a simplified humanist sans serif inspired by the precise, cubic sculptural work of Erwin Heerich.
Edited by curators Frank Boehm and Anna Czerlitzki, the book is published by Distanz with contributions by Fredi Fischli and Niels Olsen, Jan De Vylder and Denys Zacharopoulos.
