After identifying that it’s not just the construction industry that needs their generators, but hospitals, schools and festivals too, UK-based supplier Ample turned to London-based Studio 2br for help with their brand; aiming to avoid confusing technical jargon and make their products more appealing to the everyday consumer. Through their research, Studio 2br found that all of Ample’s customers share the same requirements: expertise, accessibility and reliability; resulting in a solution that focuses on attention-grabbing simplicity and vibrance. At its core is a playful double ‘m’ ligature reminiscent of an electrical current, as well as an energetic pattern of symbols derived from those often found on electrical devices and batteries.

Based in the Canadian city of Edmonton, CannaLab is a cannabis dispensary aiming to change the traditional ‘stoner’ stigmas found in the industry in favour of a more educated approach. Their identity, created by Melbourne-based Control Studio, brings scientific language into the fray in order to communicate an elevated position and understanding of the once illegal (in Canada) product. Their concept culminates in the brand’s wordmark, which elegantly combines serif and sans serif in the form of Lovelace and Mint Grotesk. The typography is supported by a graphic icon that combines a traditional marijuana leaf illustration with a grid inspired by the periodic table; once again referencing CannaLab’s scientific positioning.

Teddy Baldassarre is an American watch enthusiast, commentator, and host of one of the leading YouTube channels for wrist-watch related content; with a monthly viewership of more than two million. Marking his move into e-commerce, and change to the moniker ‘Teddy,’ Baldassarre sought a rebrand from Chicago-based freelancer Alex Coven, resulting in a light and sophisticated identity that oozes sophistication and professionalism. Coven’s typeface choices of Domaine and Montserrat provide a gentle balance of function and approachability, while their spacious application is suitably in tune with the luxurious nature of the products in question.

Canadian studio Awake has crafted a meticulous identity for the Architecture Foundation of British Columbia; centred around bespoke lettering inspired by the tension between art and science within the practice of architecture. The letterforms combine straight and curved geometric shapes to form a striking ‘AFBC’ wordmark, which alongside a colour palette of black, grey and gold, enforces the appropriate level of professionalism for a foundation advocating for a whole province’s architectural talent.

Located in Finland, Enerim offers a wide range of scalable software and business services to the electricity, gas and utility markets; aiming to simplify the complex energy market and, instead, make it easy, flexible and efficient for their customers. To bring that vision to life through their brand, they employed Helsinki-based agency Motley, who in turn, produced an approachable and straightforward visual language with technical undertones. The graphic system is defined by an uplifting colour palette, monospaced typography and a rhythmic set of shapes inspired by the sun – our main source of energy.
