We first posted about Stockholm-based designer Jens Nilsson’s custom typeface Donadoni for the interior design company Maldini Studios in 2017, and we once again return with the typeface now fully developed into a standalone release.

Faxi, named after Nilsson’s favourite letterforms from the typeface itself, is an evolution of Donadoni, crafted in close collaboration with Kenneth Knutsen from Good Type Foundry, where the typeface is now purchasable. “Since Kenneth is the expert in creating the actual typefaces, he’s been the one in charge of putting everything together”, Nilsson explains, “during the process, we have been brainstorming details and type characters back and forth until the point where we both were happy with the result”. Their refinements include enhanced legibility, greater micro-consistency and full European and basic Cyrillic glyphs.

With an aesthetic initially referencing the elegance and craftsmanship of Maldini Studio’s design, Nilsson and Knutsen have crafted a genuinely unparagoned typeface that strikes a subtle but distinct balance of crystal clear precision and candid artistry.
