Parks is a collection of over 300 North American national park maps, ephemera, and brochures spanning a period of over 100 years, collected by photographer Brian Kelley. The book marks the second collaboration between Kelley and independent publishing imprint Standards Manual, following 2017’s New York City Transit Authority: Objects.

Kelley’s collection started with a 1964 Grand Canyon national park brochure that inspired him to go on a multi-year hunt in search of more. He took particular interest in the fact that the design of the objects was never credited, adding a layer of mystery to the nostalgia.

The collection culminates in Massimo Vignelli’s iconic design system, the Unigrid. In 1977, he introduced a cohesive national park brand that unified the disparate printed materials cherished by Kelley, and now stands as the most current chapter in the national park systems visual history.
