All Purpose creates the identity for MaDe, a design competition and platform for material designers

MaDe is a competition, event series and platform that recognises the positive impact material designers can have across all creative sectors. It is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of The European Union, an organisation that directs talented creatives towards circular economies across Europe. It is also supported by universities Elisava and Politecnico di Milano, and research practice Ma-tt-er.

As a long term client of Ma-tt-er, London-based studio All Purpose were brought in to develop MaDe’s visual identity and website. They commissioned motion designer Munro to create a series of 3D assets that represent materials with two ‘states’. They exist on posters in static form but really come to life on the website and social media, constantly moving and pulsing with mesmerising intensity. The concept transfers graphically into the logotype through two separate but connected forms; also subtly alluding to the long-form version of the platform’s name: Material Designers.
