GÆA STUDIO is a 200m2 photo and event space in the Dutch city of Rotterdam that is flushed with natural light during daylight hours. The name was plucked from Greek mythology, where ‘Gæa’ means ‘personification of the Earth’. Gæa is the ancestral mother of all life, just like natural light.

With that in mind, Dutch-born Paris-based designer Roel Nabuurs created an identity for the studio that pays homage to Greek mythology through the use of Shinntype’s spiky but elegant serif, Beaufort. The always-bouncing ‘A’ in the wordmark adds a sensual quirk to the simplistic identity system. The studio’s website is presented as a pared-back tab system that makes it easy to find all of the necessary information, such as rates and equipment, right away.
