VILLALBA is a couture fashion house that was founded by Alfredo Villalba in 1976. Now under the direction of Diego Villalba, the brand has a dynamic new aesthetic that brings together traditional, avant-garde and stylistic influences from a period often associated with rebellion against the establishment: the 1980s.

Madrid-based studio Naranjo-Etxeberria was brought in to create a new visual identity in-line with the new direction. The introduced graphic system revolves around a bespoke serif typeface inspired by Diego’s fondness of sharp elegant forms, which are often presented in his designs.

The uppercase typeface is used strikingly, without clutter, to highlight the quirky characteristics of some of the letterforms. The brand’s clothing and graphic identity are intertwined through seamless incorporation of the typeface into the design of the garments.
