Jessica Schuster Design is a New York-based interior design studio with an output that maintains a balance between the unusual and the familiar.

Kolkata Chai Co is New York City’s most authentic masala chai café. Chai has been repeatedly bastardised in the western world, very rarely representing its origins in the Indian city of Kolkata. The café’s aim, through its visual communication as well as its product, is to tell a more authentic story about the tea beverage.

The visual identity, by freelance designer Badal Patel, avoids any romanticised Indian clichés, instead choosing to embrace the spirit and culture of Kolkata city through a huge palette of juxtaposing typefaces and colour.
