New York-City based design duo A.A. Trabucco-Campos and Lorenzo Fanton have redesigned annual football-focused magazine UNO-DUE for its third issue, a publication discussing the sport and the culture that surrounds it, in collaboration with Italian editor Matteo Cossu. Translating the on-pitch energy of the game into an eclectic visual language, their design utilises a stark type pairing to confidently fuel the magazine’s internal layouts.

Trabucco-Campos and Fanton opted for sans Unica77 and serif Bradford as the typographic double-act across the magazine, laying a pragmatic foundation for its content to playfully react against. In keeping with UNO-DUE’s name, the dual nature of the type pairing also plays into the notion of a ‘1-2;’ a sentiment similarly shared in the magazine’s grid and structure, whereby use of block colour and white space create visual tension. “We hope they’ll publish another volume next year,” Trabucco-Campos tells us, concluding, “and we’ll get to play again.”
