WORKING FROM HOME with Melbourne-based studio Never Now

The Coronavirus has sent a shockwave through our industry, with studios, agencies and freelancers being forced to adapt their business and work remotely as we wait for the outbreak to subside. For the second part of our WFH mini-series, we spoke to Tristan Ceddia, the Founder and Creative Director of Melbourne-based studio Never Now.

EM Have you got a daily routine going?

TC Yep, right now I wake up with my kids, make them breakfast, grind some coffee, eat some fruit, take a walk around the block and do some light exercise before getting into the day, which is a mixture of family time, client work and teaching (online). My wife and I are well set up for working from home, we have a small study with a skylight which is nice to work from.

EM Are you dressing up for work or keeping it cosy?

TC I get dressed in the morning as per my daily jeans and a t-shirt routine. One thing I have been doing in isolation is rotating hats. I might go through 4-5 hats a day; sometimes a cap, sometimes a bucket, sometimes a beanie… this changes with my mood.

EM Whereabouts in your home do you like to work from?

TC Mostly the study, sometimes the dining table, occasionally the couch and sporadically the kids’ cubby.

EM How do you stay motivated while at home?

TC My kids are 4 and 6 so we do our best to make sure they are happy and healthy first and foremost. In all honesty, I have never had trouble with motivation. I have worked independently for a long time and early on I set rules around my working day, so it all flows pretty naturally.
