AESOP produces small-batch, high-quality wines from carefully farmed, sustainable vineyards in California’s Napa Valley region. The company was founded by veteran enologist and viticulturist Tres Goetting and vastly experienced creative director Matt Carvalho with the aim of offering beautiful products at an affordable price. They’re able to do by cutting out the retail middle man and selling directly from their website.

CHEVAL, the new London-based design practice of former Apple and Pentagram art director Michael Mason, was invited to create the identity and packaging for AESOP. The studio’s solution revolves around a series of colourful patterns inspired by the way the sunlight hits the foggy mountain landscapes of Northern California. They tell a visual story about the land’s relationship with the elements as well as AESOP’s thoughtful and sustainable connection with Mother Nature.
