Justified Studio create the identity for accessible social media and digital art marketplace XVERSO
As part of their Justified Ventures initiative, the team at Justified Studio have helped to launch XVERSO; a social media and digital art marketplace operating on the Ethereum blockchain. Created with the goal to make investing in digital art more accessible to those not already taking part. Hoping to remedy the expensive and impenetrable world of art collecting, XVERSO empowers artists themselves, providing the tools to “interact, protect, and sell their digital creations” directly to collectors. “Art should be for everybody,” they suggest, “however, art ownership is currently dominated by the 1%.”
“To create a unique offering, we wanted to flip the narrative,” Justified Studio’s Founder & Creative Director Joshua Ogden explains. “We liked the concept of looking behind the art to find something unique and ownable to the audience.” That's where they landed on the word ‘VERSO,’ defined as 'the reverse of something such as a coin or painting.’ “A considerable part of the mission is to collaborate with artists,” he continues. “We wanted that to play into the name, offering and brand, so the ‘X’ was tactically placed to be a branded element and strengthen a unique name. XVERSO was born.”
The ‘X’ features prominently throughout the visual language, appearing as both gestural brushstrokes and ice-like translucent 3D design. To complement the focal ‘X,’ Justified Studio opted for Colophon Foundry’s geometric typeface DM Sans. With a variety of weights and matching italic, monospaced, and serif versions, the versatile family was the perfect choice for multi-use applications across the brand and product. In order to celebrate the content and NFT artwork, the remaining brand elements were kept minimal, “so we landed with a monochromatic suite of colours with one accent Lotus purple,” Ogden tells us. “This is used as a brand signifier and to unify moments across the app and create strong calls to action,” he concludes.
