As an extension of the serene identity they designed for Manuka-honey-centred wellness brand Manukora, Vancouver-based creative studio Pendo have crafted the look and feel of Manukora Botanicals – a minimalist sub-brand made with elderberry, echinacea and ashwagandha. Established to champion naturally derived, sustainable ingredients, the Botanicals range combines the brand’s longstanding commitment to ethical production with an exploration of self-care and slow-living. Encouraging their audience, through the introduction and use of their products, to embrace a slower, more conscious lifestyle.

Manukora Botanicals’ exploration of slow-living is aesthetically conveyed through the identity’s typographically-led, minimalist visual language, crafted through the evolution of their existing identity, including the continued use of Samuel Oakes’ Metro Sans as the primary typeface, however, more expressively applied. “Tapping into the playful direction of Botanicals, there was an opportunity to bring the line to life through animation,” Creative Director and Co-founder Peter Ladd tells us, noting the shapely typographic embodiment of cascading sun rays.

“They give the sense of better days,” Ladd adds, “speaking to the benefits of the products, and how it makes you feel,” a theme and tone similarly matched with the introduction of earthy red and pink hues. “The colour palette reflects the ingredients in the products themselves,” Ladd concludes, “the brighter, vibrant tones reflect the more playful and contemporary direction of Botanicals,” noting the inclusion of additional colours when more products and botanicals are brought to the table.
