JUNO and Arctic Paper’s Munken Creator app allows its users to explore their creative boundaries

Following Hamburg-based agency JUNO’s previous collaborations with Arctic Paper, which included the creation of the identity and bespoke typeface for Swedish paper brand Munken, the pair have once again teamed up on the Munken Creator. Produced alongside Creative Technologist Patrik Hübne, the Munken Creator is an experimental web-based font animation application that encourages experimentation and discovery.

Inviting users to play with and examine typographic form through its variable digital system, the free-to-use application is led by the maxim ‘Raising Questions,’ a conceptual provocation that leads to the practical creation of abstract type-based artworks, manifesting in both static and animated outcomes.

Whist the WebM and MP4 results of Munken Creator will continue to exist digitally on the platform, JUNO have also created a large-scale magazine that physically exhibits the platform’s static creations – championing the Munken Design paper range in the process. If you are interested in learning more or receiving a copy of the magazine, please contact your local Arctic paper sales office here.

“All Munken publications are printed on paper from the Munken Design range, and this publication is no exception,” Graphic Designer at JUNO Hellen Gramkow tells us, “but the main goal of the magazine is to inspire people to think beyond the boundaries of how we communicate,” she adds, further intending to encourage their audience to develop their own voice through Munken Creator and expand their creative boundaries. “Munken sees itself as a partner for creatives and designers,” Gramkow details, “so if you want to learn in detail about the different papers from the Munken Design range, we recommend the swatch books.”
