Winter & Company launch more than 1,300 paper and packaging materials as downloadable 3D textures

International paper manufacturer Winter & Company have partnered with 3D rendering software company Chaos; contributing to the latter’s renowned and comprehensive Chaos Scans Library by adding their equally comprehensive catalogue of materials for luxury packaging, books and displays. Totalling more than 1,300 textures, including 500 coated papers, 300 uncoated papers, 250 textile leather imitations and 120 metallic papers, as well as the 300 Foilco stamping foils that were introduced to the library previously.

These textures can be utilised alongside Chaos’ existing collection as assets for 3D rendering and artwork, and function within software such as Cinema 4D, SketchUp, Houdini and Modo. Effortlessly and accurately responding to real-world interactions such as lighting, weight and movement, due to the power of Chaos’ high-quality material scanning technology and the straightforward drag-and-drop workflow of their software.

Alongside the ease of its processes, the scanning, rendering and optimisation of Winter & Company’s materials within the Chaos Scans Library intends to not only provide new assets for creatives across the board, but also to open up creatives to materials, textures and perspectives they weren’t previously privy to using – from suede, nappa or nubuck leather to woven cotton and viscose.

Designed to help best represent the physical world in the digital realm or, as the collaboration has coined, the ‘Phygital Ecosystem;’ a space to both prototype the physical embodiment of a product before its production, and to generate virtual graphics indistinguishable from a real-world photoshoot. Giving artists and designers both the time and tools to reach the true potential of their creative prowess.

Each texture is available to download as a free VRSCAN file within Winter & Company’s product listings, as well as in the Chaos Scans Library.
