The Worm features a collection of more than 200 images from NASA’s archives that all have one thing in common: they showcase the agency’s famous logo. By compiling these images, the book highlights not only the widespread adoption of the logo as part of Richard Danne and Bruce Blackburn’s 1975 NASA Graphic Programme, which was later discontinued in 1992, but also the remarkable accomplishments of NASA staff. The book’s concluding section chronicles the logo’s revival as it made a comeback on May 30, 2020, when it flew aboard a SpaceX rocket, though this story remains unfinished.
