After deep introspection, when 280 Group realised that their look wasn’t reflecting their personality, the product management training company decided to shake things up. Working with Truth & Consequences, a Philadelphia-based branding agency, aided them in re-evaluating their ethos and offerings. As such, the rebranding initiative culminates in a new name and a new identity that is both practical and deeply reflective of the company’s essence.

At the heart of this identity is the logo, a design inspired by the workflows central to product management. In a clever twist, the logo forms a ‘P,’ aligning with the company’s new name, Productside, and serving as an instant visual callback to the brand. As the key element of the brand, it is a dynamic and versatile motif. “Its flexible form lends itself to various applications,” Partner & Senior Designer Ksenia Agres tells us, “from serving as containers for photography, accentuating key messaging  to creating abstract illustrations and patterns.”

Each typeface was carefully chosen to mirror Productside’s innovative nature and intellectual core. For example, the brand’s wordmark is set in a customised version of Fontshare’s Clash Grotesk, crafted to establish a distinct typographic rhythm that mirrors the fluid and smooth feel of the ‘P’ emblem. Additionally, the team opted for Frank Fonts’ Kraken Slab as the main supporting typeface. “We carefully selected it to match the brand’s soft, rounded edges while giving it a confident, strong, and eye-catching personality,” Agres explains. “This playful, slightly retro font elegantly juxtaposes the simple, grid-like, and precise forms of the brand.”

To help Productside stand out and make a statement about its confidence and expertise, Truth & Consequence introduced a fresh colour palette with a bold mix of green, white, black, and grey. This is complemented with a secondary palette, specifically chosen to be used in course materials. Rounding out the brand’s visual story are hand-drawn illustrations, bringing a personal touch and warmth to the identity.
