Layla PanamTYPEONE Issue Four champions underrepresented creatives through forward-thinking explorations
TYPEONE is a bi-annual magazine that fuses type mediums with mainstream topics such as culture, business, technology, innovation, global issues and more. Before TYPE01, TYPEONE and Type Department came along though, there was Femme Type – a platform celebrating the work of women who are part of the typography industry. Born out of the lack of representation of women’s typographic contributions in the design space, Femme Type was set up as a platform and publication in 2019 to help tackle this important diversity issue.
Issue Four of TYPEONE goes back to these beginnings and champions underrepresented creatives through forward-thinking, educational editorial explorations. The cover design features four unique takes on the number ‘4,’ designed by four specially commissioned female type designers: Margot Lévêque, Zuzanna Rogatty, Kimya Gandhi, and Jorge Jacobs.
