Order’s lively identity for Songtrust frames the music industry as an interconnected community

Brooklyn-based branding studio Order have partnered with brand strategist Adam Beal in the aesthetic and conceptual reframing of Songtrust, an international music publishing administrator that serves to collect royalties for songwriters following the use of their music. Established with the aim to further empower songwriters by shifting the focus towards the influence of the individual, as well as showcasing the latter’s subsequent career and community.

Lively, complementary and systematic, the resulting identity captures the striking middle ground between expression and consistency; translating both the significance of the individual and the power found in community. This is no more overtly showcased than in the brand’s icon, which sees two musical notes coming together to form Songtrust’s initial, as well as the supporting choice of Klim Type Foundry’s National 2 as the identity’s leading type family.

Alongside spirited photography and a vibrant colour palette, the typeface plays an expressive role in the identity alongside the logomark. They combine to form a rigorous yet playful modular system inspired by the structure of musical compositions; scaling from minimal to maximal depending on the required application.
