Clay’s identity for investment platform Streetbeat reflects its expertise and swift-footed spirit
With an aim to democratise the financial market, Streetbeat is a subscription-based investment platform that uses artificial intelligence to navigate the complex stock market. Growth, sharp expertise, and a sense of agility are synonymous with the brand, which combines generative AI with real-time market news analysis to revolutionise dynamic portfolio management. Its identity then, in turn, had to reflect these qualities, so the company collaborated with Clay to chart a flexible, yet comprehensive visual direction.
The San Francisco-based design studio began by sculpting the symbol that sits at the heart of the identity – a stylised, geometric form “that evokes both the letter ‘S’ and financial graphs, and also exhibits a dynamic quality reminiscent of AI technology,” explains Design Lead Sasha Denisova. “The symbol can be animated in various contexts while also serving as the cornerstone for brand elements.” The sinuous curves and rounded forms of the symbol are cleverly abstracted and animated across touchpoints – in one of the visuals, an entire wall is splashed with fragmented elements from the identity (nodding to a setting where perhaps the visual system had to be adapted to create a presentation at a conference), where sliding, fluid forms create movement and a forward-motion, subconsciously tying in with ideas of growth.
The system is grounded by a no-frills typographic direction, centred around the wordmark, set in Roobert by Displaay, chosen for its “precision and rationality, with distinctive details like geometric roundings in certain glyphs and unique skeletons,” says Denisova. “It also emphasises the concept of tech-forwardness and robustness.” A green-teal gradient, which subtly highlights the “duality of fiat and crypto finances,” a utilitarian suite of icons and illustrations, and an adaptable system – supported by robust infographics, which present complex information in approachable, bite-sized nuggets – round off the brand, ultimately highlighting Streetbeat’s position as a swift-footed, AI-powered platform that handles all the complex analysis required to stay abreast of the stock market, so you don’t have to.
